Senior Analytics Engineer
About the Role
We're looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to build the data models and metrics that drive decisions across SmithSpektrum. You'll own the transformation layer, build self-serve analytics capabilities, and ensure data quality across our warehouse.
This role sits at the intersection of data engineering and analytics. You'll work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into robust, tested data models.
What You'll Do
- Design and maintain dimensional models in our data warehouse
- Build and document dbt models for core business metrics
- Implement data quality tests and monitoring
- Create self-serve dashboards and reports for business teams
- Partner with stakeholders to define metrics and KPIs
- Optimize query performance and warehouse costs
- Document data models and maintain a data catalog
- Mentor analysts on SQL best practices and data modeling
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of analytics engineering or data engineering experience
- Expert SQL skills and experience with modern data transformation (dbt preferred)
- Experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift)
- Strong understanding of dimensional modeling and data warehouse design
- Experience with BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Metabase, or similar)
- Python proficiency for data validation and automation
- Knowledge of data quality frameworks and testing practices
- Excellent communication skills - you translate data into business insights
What We Offer
- Base salary: $150,000 - $190,000 depending on experience
