Technical Account Manager
About the Role
Our clients rely on SmithSpektrum to build their engineering teams. As a Technical Account Manager, you'll be their trusted advisor - understanding their technical needs, recommending the right engineers, and ensuring successful outcomes.
This role requires a unique blend of technical depth and relationship skills. You need to understand what makes a great engineer for a specific role and communicate that clearly to both clients and our talent team.
What You'll Do
- Own relationships with key accounts and drive expansion
- Conduct technical discovery to understand client needs and culture
- Translate technical requirements into clear specifications for talent matching
- Review engineer profiles and present qualified candidates to clients
- Monitor engagement success and address issues proactively
- Conduct regular business reviews with client stakeholders
- Gather feedback to improve our matching and service
- Collaborate with sales on complex opportunities
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in technical account management, solutions engineering, or technical consulting
- Software engineering background (you've written production code)
- Experience working with engineering leaders: CTOs, VPs of Engineering, Tech Leads
- Strong understanding of modern software development practices and technologies
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Experience with enterprise sales cycles and stakeholder management
- Data-driven approach to measuring and improving client outcomes
- Ability to travel occasionally for key client meetings (<20%)
What We Offer
- Base salary: $140,000 - $180,000 depending on experience
- Performance bonus up to 25% of base
